Ending the first week

As I am ending the first week of my 2 week challenge I am pumped and already looking forward to my next one.  It's so exciting to see others getting involved and sharing their journey with each other.  Not only are they keeping themselves accountable, but it helps me stay on track and they are keeping me accountable.  I feel like it's my job as a coach to be up before everyone and posting that post that they will for see first in the morning.  Their coach got up and worked out already and that I hope is inspiring. This next challenge will be on my own.  As in my coach won't be there to guide me through, I'll be leading it myself.  Along side my new coach that I signed on earlier this week.  I already see my team forming and it's encouraging me to work harder and reach more people. I'm currently doing 21 Day Fix and loving it!  It's 30 minute workouts that I knock out easy before work each day.  It is 7 days a week, but that's simple to do at just 30

Challenge groups

Tomorrow is the start of my first challenge group! I am so excited to share a sneak peek into the fantastic community I have become a part of.  I had 15 people join, which I think is a good number considering I opened up 20 spots and there is still to the end of the day. A challenge group is really what kept me motivated while doing workouts at home and they still do.  Seeing everyone encouraging each other and posting their own struggles and achievements.  Giving pointers, tips and new ideas.  Being able to have a place to go when the people in real life judge your journey or make comments (unfortunately that will happen). And when that does happen, brush aside those negative comments and remember why you have decided to take this journey, FOR YOU! To make your life better, to be a better person, to encourage your family, to just be a better you all around.  Because that's what's going to happen.  And if anyone wants join me on this journey (along with a whole bunch of o

The Shake

When I signed up to be a coach I didn't really plan to use Shakeology.  I had never tried it before and I really was just so sold by the workouts that I didn't think buying the shakes would really add that much more to my new lifestyle.  But it all kind of came with the territory and I thought I may as well give them a try to see what they were like.  I ordered the cafe latte, because according to research I had done that flavor along with chocolate was their biggest sellers.  And I like coffee. It came quicker than expected and I was super excited to try it.  It was a little strong on flavor.  The first mixture I tried was using just unsweetened almond milk and I've now been adding water along with that to cut down the strong flavor.  I sometimes add oats, frozen bananas, mint extract (careful with this one, a drop or two will do.  I learned that the hard way) or peanut butter.  But there are loads of recipes if you search around.  You can change your flavor with the

The container system

These little containers are beginning to become my friend.  Back in April when I really started getting into Beachbody programs and signed on with Beachbody on demand, (lifesaver, seriously programs galore!) I started the program 80 Day Obsession.  However, I did not do the meal plan.  I honestly didn't think I needed it.  At the time I was doing my own thing with food and thought if I work out hard enough I can just eat normal and the good would outweigh the bad...WRONG!  That may have worked 10 to 15 years ago, but not in my mid thirties.  The meal plan is a stricter version of the meal plan with 21 Day Fix.  I never did the meal plan with that one either, but that's how I understand it from what I've read and heard.  Some things that were allowed before are no longer allowed in 80 Day Obsession, like wine.  I was counting macros at the time I began 80 DO, which is essentially what this is but the containers control way more of the KIND of food you eat rather than w

On average, it takes more than 2 months before a new behavior becomes automatic — 66 days to be exact.

This is what one study showed, conducted by Phillipa Lally, and published in the  European Journal of Social Psychology.   The study also says that it greatly depends on the person (of course), the circumstances, and the behavior.   Habit: A settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up . I have been making exercise a habit since March, earlier this year.  A habit, as in at least 5 times a week, during one program 6 days.  I think the longest I have taken a break in the last 8 months was a week or two, cause hey, life happens.  It has improved every aspect in my life physically, mentally, and emotionally. I used to be that coworker that would fall asleep at her desk.  Seriously, I felt like I was back in high school in biology class, which I had right after lunch, with the monotone teacher (sorry Mr. Clark).  You know the feeling when you just cannot stay awake for the life of you.  That was me.  Until I made exercise part of my daily routine.

I did something

A while back a coworker suggested to me that I give audiobooks a try.  I laughed under my breath and thought to myself "hard pass!".  I thought, "what's the point in LISTENING to a books? I want to READ books!".  That's what a book is!  A few weeks go by and she brings it up again, and this time sends me a sample.  While a lot of my coworkers have jumped on the audiobook bandwagon I just didn't see the point.  The way my attention span is I would end up having to listen to the same thing over and over to remember what I just heard in the first place, let alone comprehend the story.  Days went by and I finally gave in a listened to the audio sample.  While we don't exactly have the same taste in the book department, I had an idea.  What if I kept my entertaining books to the reading kind and gave motivational books a try in the audio world.  I downloaded the Libby app and searched my local library and found a book that I had been interested in reading
